GLAD is contracting an individual to accomplish the task of streamlining and increasing the effectiveness of communications for the purpose of supporting the GLAD mission of transforming the church into a just and welcoming place for all people.
Goals to be accomplished with related timelines:
Integrate email list and contact (consolidate and organize) & ensure it is updated quarterly.
- Work with GLAD moderator and O&A Chair or designee, to collect and consolidate lists for the following groups:
- All member and friends list which includes email and other contact information
- Open & Affirming churches with contacts
- Crossbeams distribution lists
Standardize the process and produce the quarterly Cross Beams Newsletter in the first week of each quarter:
- Finalize standardized format and article types
- Establish Succession Plan to continue Newsletter after the year
- Create distribution lists and a distribution plan for newsletter?s physical distribution
- Line up church and individual interviews for the newsletter
- Create a printable PDF format of the newsletter
Create a Media Center / Internal Database for Communication: ?This should be a place that we can go internally as an organization to see, reference, and capitalize on past communications. It should include the following libraries:
- Press Releases
- O&A Church List
- GLAD and O&A members lists with contact information
- Past newsletters
- List of Advocates, Regions, and number of delegates per O&A church
Website:
Create links to all current Crossbeams ?articles and those from the recent past.
List all O&A churches, if possible with a searchable database which works with current web mistress to consolidate GLAD information posted on other sites
Social Media:
- Add to the vitality of GLAD?s Facebook presence by providing periodic status updates
- Create and maintain a presence in other social media platforms
Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with a passion for social justice and a desire to help move towards a just and inclusive church. The successful candidate will have experience in marketing, communications, or a related field. In addition, they must have excellent organizational skills and computer skills, have a proven track record of project completion, and be self-directed as this is a contract position, not a position of employment.? This project is expected to take approximately 1 year to complete and progress will be reported to a designated person on the GLAD council.
