The Advances in Computer Gaming | Commander Tim

One computer activity that keeps people up at night is computer gaming. Computer games, in contrast to video games, are games that are played on a personal computer or laptop rather than on a console or arcade machine. These games have evolved from simple black and white graphics to wildly colorful and visually captivating graphics. They can be played offline, without an internet connection, or through an internet connection. And compared to PC games twenty years ago, the computer gaming world has surely changed for the better.

Computer gaming is an activity that attracts people of all ages and cultures. The fact that the history of computer gaming is so complex does not affect this actuality. In fact, before the commercialization and popularity of the arcade and personal computers began, computer games were already in existence. It was in 1946 that the first ever system designed entirely for game was conceived. This game was designed to be played on a CRT or Cathode Ray Tube. The general aim of the game was to fire a ?missile? to a specified target. In 1952, another game was created. This game was the already popular ?Tic Tac Toe? game which consists of crosses and noughts. The human-computer interaction game was initiated by the University of Cambridge. In 1961, Steve Russell and some mates from MIT came up with a revolutionary pc gaming program. This game was named ?SpaceWar!? SpaceWar! was designed and programmed for the latest computer then, the DEC PDP-1. It regaled a spaceship that was capable of firing missiles throughout space. This was probably the jump start of computer gaming as we know it.

The dawn of Video games was probably in the 1970?s, but they were not alone bathing in the sunshine. Computer games were also starting to develop slowly. In 1971, when the first baseball pc gaming system came to life, so did Star Trek. Star Trek was probably the most known and widely played computer game back then. This game was programmed to run on a PDP-10 personal computer. After these games, computer gaming kept on evolving and improving.

In the 1990?s, with the help of CD-ROMs and Sound Cards, the computer gaming industry was able to create games with a multimedia appeal. This was largely due to the increasing power of computing and the decreasing cost of PC processors. Hence, 3D images and graphics were made possible. Also, it was within this decade that shareware gaming was made available and hand-held consoles like Game Boy and Sega were released.

The advances of computer gaming throughout the decades have blossomed into impressive and innovative concepts and systems. From a simple black-and-white game in the 1940?s, we now have a whole, new, wide computer gaming world ahead of us. The development of the personal computer has a huge impact on these changes with gaming. From games like Star Trek (1972), Rouge (1984), The Sims (1993), Star Craft (1998) and World of Warcraft (2004); the computer gaming experience is simply on a whole new level.
