Dancing Tree Creations Artisans Gallery and Studio and Studio B Art Gallery

Join to Celebrate American Craft Week

Throughout October 7-16, 2011, Dancing Tree Creations Artisans Gallery and Studio and Studio B Art Gallery and Teaching Studio in Boyertown are celebrating American Craft Week by offering a series of workshops, activities, and demonstrations throughout the week and an exhibit featuring the fine art of craft.

Fine crafts are the feature of Studio B?s monthly exhibit opening Friday, September 16, 2011, 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Studio B. ?Crafted,? features the fine art of craft. Nick Mohler of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, the juror for the exhibit, will present awards at the exhibit?s opening. The show continues through American Craft Week until Saturday, October 15, 2011.

As a prelude to American Craft Week, Studio B offers a workshop on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Carrie Keplinger will offer an Introduction to Crochet Lace workshop (12:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.) at Studio B in Boyertown. ($60/student; $10 materials fee)

Scheduled events during American Craft Week at Dancing Tree Creations Artisans Gallery and Studio:

Friday, October 7, 2011, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.: cocktail party reception for visitors to meet and mingle with local artists.

Saturday, October 8, 2011, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.: Hands-on workshop?make a leaf tile with Steve Day from Petrified Forest. ?

Saturday, October 8, 2011, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.: Painting techniques demonstration by Kathleen Lysakowski.

Sunday, October 9, 2011, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.: Basket weaving demonstration by local basketmaker Diane Kennedy who specializes in the use of natural materials.

Sunday, October 9, 2011, 2 p.m.-6 p.m.: Demonstration and invitation to learn Scherenschnitte (papercutting techniques) with Brenda Meitzler.

Saturday, October 15, 2011, 3 p.m.-5 p.m.: Enjoy a cooking demonstration, good food, drink, and fellowship with Linda Rohrbach-Austerberry showing the functionality of her finely crafted, unique cooking pottery pieces. Pre-registration necessary; space limitations apply.

Saturday, October 15, 2011, marks the one-year anniversary of Dancing Tree Creations Artisans Gallery and Studio which carries only handmade items from more than 100 North American Artisans (including over 20 local).

The anniversary celebration will run throughout the weekend and include light refreshments, beverages, and an Anniversary Savings certificate for registered recipients of the gallery/studio?s e-newsletters.

American Craft Week is a project of Craft Retailers and Artists for Tomorrow (CRAFT) in partnership with Craft in America which brings together individuals, small businesses and organizations from all fifty states in recognition of the countless ways handmade objects enrich our daily lives and contribute to our national aesthetic and economy.
